I'm not sure what to do about M.A.C.U. My professor makes a good point, that making a rover style robot makes the story unable to be future proof. Rovers won't exist in the future, most likely, it would be something else.
I started toying with the idea in my mind of making a floating orb with CG and Special FX instead. I'm just to sure how to make that work with the scene where Commander Brax beats up M.A.C.U. or where M.A.C.U. saves the commander.
I do know that I want to stick with my original story for the most part, so I need to figure that out so I can make this project come to life in the fall.

Script Revisions
I spoke to someone about my script idea, showed them my storyboards and they suggested something to me that totally changes my idea around 180 degrees. So in a small way, I'm back to the drawing board on my idea. I have to get the entire story worked out with some new ideas and make it work on another level. Now I'm not sure how to tell that story.

Storyboard #1 for Desolate
While I'm waiting to get some help with the revision of my capstone screenplay, I decided to go ahead and get some storyboards done for my project. I have a sweet template I made up in illustrator to use and sat down this afternoon and started drawing.
This is the first sheet I've put together for Desolate.
This is the first sheet I've put together for Desolate.
Since I have so many scenery shots that I want to use so I can establish the desolation and alien world feeling, I drew up a good amount of those to use. I also wanted to show the campfire shot I imagined with a black hill, and orange light from the fire making the characters glow in the fire light. A really strong contrast.
I think I will need something like 2 or 3 more storyboards to complete the story and work out the rest of the shots.
