Shooting B-roll...again

Dustin and I went out again this week to pick up some additional location footage for inserts. It was an early start today, 6:15am, because we drove all the way down to Mesquite, NV to get the shots at Whitney Pocket to use for the landscapes. We took out the F55 with a 14-24mm, 35mm and 50mm lens pack.

We also managed to get a few time lapse shots that might work for showing the passing of time between the night and day shots, or maybe just the early morning shots. Dustin used his Black Magic Pocket Cinema for some, while I played around with my Nikon D5100.

We also got a few wide shots that show some red rocks coming out of the desert witch might be great to show that the planet is red rock, but not all red rock. Something I've struggled with in my mind.

Revising the Shooting Schedule

I got together with Darren again to adjust the shooting schedule that I have planned in February.

We talked about the locations, times and dates that would work for the shoot. We also talked about his work schedule and when he was available to be on location while we shoot.

This is the most current schedule and I have sent it out to the actors so they are aware of any changes so far.

Shooting B-roll

I got my DP, Dustin Merrill, to go out with me for a couple hours and shoot some landscape shots.
We headed out early and got some great shots of red stones, deserts, and beautiful scenery.

We were able to get a few shots at the Red Cliffs just to the North of St. George. But we also headed out to the location in Leeds, which has a few locations I wanted to use for scenes in Desolate.

We also met again on Friday for the capstone class and plan to go out to Mesquite and Moe's Valley next Tuesday to get a few more location shots to use as inserts for the film. I'm pretty excited about getting these shots before the end of February when we shot with the actors.
